The Contractor Control Review Unit (CCRU), located on the first floor of the Forth Building, is a vital component of the Engineering Department at Edinburgh Airport.
The unit manages the registration and Authorisation to Work process for all external companies undertaking work across the airport estate. Whether it's large-scale infrastructure projects or routine maintenance tasks, such as equipment repairs, all external works must be coordinated through the CCRU.
As the primary point of contact for all contractors, the CCRU plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and compliant working environment. The unit assesses and monitors risks associated with contractor activities, reviews risk assessments and method statements, and ensures that all works are conducted in accordance with Edinburgh Airport safety standards.
The CCRU also verifies that contractors meet the airport’s insurance requirements and demonstrate a strong commitment to health and safety practices while working on-site.
In addition, the CCRU is responsible for the management and issuance of all Authorisation to Work permits, including, but not limited to, Hot Works, Confined Space Entry and HV Working. As custodians of the airport’s permit to work system, the CCRU ensures that all contractor activities are properly authorised, controlled, and carried out with minimal risk to people, infrastructure, and operations. The CCRU team is committed to supporting all contractors throughout their time working at Edinburgh Airport, ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of every activity undertaken on site.
If you are required to work on campus as a contractor you will be required to follow the Contractor Compliance Review Procedure.
To obtain an Authorisation to Work permit on site you will need to register your company by completing the EAL SafePermit Registration form. Please note this is required for all companies.
Only one person is required to register to set up your company. Further log ins can be created by this user once they have received access.
