Airspace Change

The UK’s airspace is being upgraded as part of the UK Government’s Airspace Modernisation Strategy.
Edinburgh Airport is one of eighteen UK airports undertaking airspace changes to modernise their routes below 7,000ft.
At Edinburgh Airport, the flightpaths we use are the same as we have done since the 1970s. Airspace design has not kept pace with modern aircraft and increasing demand, and the flightpaths are in need of modernisation to make them more efficient.
We’re proposing new routes that will enable aircraft to follow more precise and predictable flight paths. This means flight paths will be narrower and more predictable, improving efficiency and safety.
Scottish Airspace Modernisation is a coordinated change proposal in Scotland, made up of Edinburgh Airport, Glasgow Airport and NATS. You can find more information at the link below: www.scottishairspacemodernisation.co.uk
