New Chief Operations Officer appointed at Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh Airport has appointed Peter Barnes as its new Chief Operations Officer.
Peter joins the executive team on a permanent basis following a successful spell as interim COO and an internal career spanning more than a decade. During his time at the airport, he has held senior roles across operations, security and airfield management, and also brings extensive experience outside of aviation with roles at firms such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Motorola and Gore-Tex.
As Chief Operations Officer, Peter will lead day-to-day airport operations. He will oversee airfield activity, terminal operations, security and resilience, and will also play a key role in shaping the airport’s future as it heads towards a significant expansion project.
Peter and his team will continue to work closely with their airline, ground handling and regulatory partners as the airport prepares for another busy year.
Gordon Dewar, Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport said:
“Peter’s deep understanding of our operation, combined with his proven track record of delivery, made him the ideal choice for this role. His ability to analyse challenges and implement effective solutions has already brought significant benefits, and I’m confident he will continue to drive innovation and resilience as we prepare for an exciting period of growth."
Peter Barnes, who takes up the role with immediate effect, said:
“I’m excited to take on this role and proud to lead such a dedicated team at Edinburgh Airport. We have incredibly committed people across our workforce who all place great focus on delivering an innovative, safe and efficient operation that enhances the passenger experience. With a major expansion on the horizon, I’m looking forward to the opportunities ahead and continuing our great work together.”
